Many of our tasters were spot-on with the Mystery Wine this week! Those that came in out of the gorgeous sunshine were treated to a fun tasting! The identity of the Mystery Wine is:
Beringer White Zinfandel (reg. $5.99) $5.39/5.09
This White Zinfandel from California is produced by leaving the grape skins in contact with juice for three hours, resulting in a light blush color. Fresh strawberry and melon flavors come through with a vibrant, sweet citrus finish. If you like sweet wines, this is a great, affordable one!
Borgo M Pinot Grigio 2009 (reg. $10.99) $9.89/9.34
This straight-forward Pinot Grigio from Friuli, Italy, has with apple, smoke and spice notes. It is lightly juicy and extremely drinkable. A great table white for everyday!
Edmonds Rhapsody White Blend 2009 (reg. $13.99) $12.59/11.89
This Washington State blend consists of Semillion (53%) and Sauvignon Blanc (47%). With a yeasty nose, this medium-bodied white has high acidity and lemon piff flavors on the palate.
Bodegas Bilbainas Vina Zaco Rioja 2006 (reg. $12.99) $11.69/11.04
This yummy Rioja has black cherry and blackberry flavors, with a nice note of smoky oak. A modern style, the wine is focused, with firmtannins and bright acidity. It's easy to see how this Tempranillo received90 points Wine Spectator.
Grand Bateau Rouge 2009 (reg. $13.99) $12.59/11.89
This elegant blend of Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) is aged partially in new oak barrels. Rich and round, medium to full-bodied, the wine has ripe red fruit flavors, spice anda touch of oak. The label sports a picture of the mythical galleon of the famous Ch=E2teau Beychevelle.
Grand Veneur Les Champauvins Cotes du Rhone 2009 (reg. $17.99) $16.19/15.29
The outstanding, silky, pure 2009 Cotes du Rhone Les Champauvins represents a baby Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Composed of Grenache (70%), Syrah (20%), and Mourvedre (10%), the wine has a deep ruby color in addition to full-bodied flavors, light tannin, and lavender and black cherry aromas.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Cab Sauv 2009 (reg. $17.99) $16.19/15.29
This jammy Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon is lush and complex. Very fruit-forward, it displays blackberry and cherry flavors and dark fruit aromas.
