2008 Fuente Milano Verdejo-Viura (reg. $10.99) $9.89/9.34
This blend of Spanish Verdejo (50%) and Viura (50%) is a light, bright yellow hue. Aromas of grapefruit, green apple and lemon are very vibrant. Zesty citrus flavors and an undercurrent of herbs are found on the palate. The finish is a touch spicy, making for an interesting wine.
2010 R Stuart & Co. Big Fire Pinot Gris (reg. $15.99) $14.39/13.59,/span>
The incredibly fragrant nose on this Oregon Pinot Gris is very enticing. Peach, apple and a creamy note are found on both the nose and the palate. The rich fruit is cut by a pleasant acidity. Nice lime and wet stone flavors come through on the finish. This is a great, full-bodied white for summer!
2009 Domaine de Montmarin Sauvignon (reg. $8.99) $8.09/7.64
Domaine de Montmarin produces several delicious whites from the Languedoc. This Sauvignon Blanc is full of fresh citrus fruit characters, crisp acidity, and has a clean and refreshing finish.
2010 Susana Balbo Crios Rosé of Malbec (reg. $11.99) $10.79/10.19
This Malbec Rosé has a deep, vibrant color. With a surprising amount of body, there are fresh, wild strawberry aromas. On the palate, the flavors of strawberries and cherries end in a clean, dry finish. A very drinkable wine, this is one of our best selling rosés.
2009 Byron Pinot Noir (reg. $17.99) $16.19/15.29
This Santa Barbara County Pinot has ripe cherry aromas and flavors. A hint of bacon and earth, along with a fair amount of tannin, make this a fairly hearty wine. Aging for eight months in small French oak barrels adds a touch of woodsy spice, as well.
2009 Falesco Merlot (reg. $14.99) $13.49/12.74
This Italian Merlot received 92 points from Robert Parker. It is a firm wine, that drinks more like a Cabernet. The palate has jammy blueberries, blackberries and leather notes. The oak adds a nice layer of depth, without overwhelming the wine.
Special Addition - 2007 Blasted Church Cabernet Merlot!
Our intrepid and friendly Saturday pourer, Martin, brought in a special bottle from his private collection to share with tasters. We greatly enjoyed the Cab-Merlot blend from Blasted Church in Canada’s Okanagan Valley. With blackberry, vanilla and plum on the nose and rich chocolate, black cherry and vanilla on the palate, this was a stunning and yummy wine. Thanks, Martin!
