Bell is offering a "two-fer" in July -- we begin the month with Red, White & Blue to celebrate Independence Day, and continue with Red, White & Bleu as we focus on France for July.  Thus, all still 750ml wines made in the USA not already on sale will be 10% off from the very first bottle and 20% off solid cases (in stock and special orders) through Saturday, July 2nd.  Then we shift to France for the rest of July, including a Grand French Tasting on Wednesday, July 13th (the eve of Bastille Day).

Saturday Tasting -

Wines On Sale

The wines below will be on sale through Saturday, July 2nd:

Saturday’s tasting included many regulars and new tasters. We featured a few new wines, as well.  The identity of the Mystery Wine is:

2008 Monte Volpe Sangiovese (reg. $14.99) $13.49/12.74
Bright, shiny ruby color and bursting with red berry fruit — currants, cherries dried cranberries.

Other wines in the tasting included:

2010 Domaine de la Mordoree Cotes du Rhone Rose (reg. $15.99) $14.39/13.59
Vine varieties : Grenache 60%, Cinsault 10%, Mourvedre 10%, Syrah 10%, Bourboulenc 5%, Clairette 5% This rose has aromas of red and white fruits and subtle floral notes. The palate is rounded with balanced acidity, medium bodied with a long lasting aniseed and fruity finish.

2008 Silver Lake Winery Girly Girl Chardonnay (reg. $15.99) SALE $10.99
The unoaked Chardonnay showcases flavors of baked apple pie and banana. This is a great everyday white perfect for the summertime. Proceeds of the wine go towards breast cancer research.

2008 Tobreck Woodcutter’s Semillon (reg. $19.99) $17.99/16.99
Medium bodied with a pristine lemon hue this youthful Semillon offers delicate scents of limestone, sulphur, and toasted brioche. The copper-pink skins of this robust, age-old ‘Madeira Clone’ flesh out the palate, lending notes of almond kernels, soft pineapple, roasted cashew and white peach. Although beautifully enjoyable in its youth with sashimi and fresh shellfish this wine will continue to increase in complexity with time and should provide compelling drinking over the coming years.

2009 Mill Creek Gewurztraminer (reg. $13.99) $12.59/11.89
This Gewurztraminer has a vibrant nose of ginger, roses, and ripe honeysuckle. A bright attack yields to a full middle with flavors of spice, lychee, and brown sugar. Baked pear with a long refreshing finish round out this wine.

2007 Ledgewood Creek Cabernet Sauvignon (reg. $19.99) $17.99/16.99
This wine is full of dark berry fruit and firm tannins.

2008 Airfield Estates Mustang (reg. $24.99) $22.49/21.24
53% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 8% Cinsault, 2% Counoise & 2% Mouvedre This rustic and ripe Rhone style blend has concentrated flavors of dark berries, vanilla and spice with underlying hints of white pepper and smoke.

Other additions to this Saturdays Tasting: - 2008 Glen Fiona Mouvedre
This medium to full bodied wine showcases aromas and flavors of blackberry, violet, clove, black pepper and sweet wood. The big oak tannins are slightly off balance but overall an enjoyable wine.

2008 Glen Fiona Syrah
This medium bodied syrah has intense aromas of blackberry, cherry, cola, asian spice and vanilla. The palate is juicy and matches the nose with firm oak tannins.

2010 Domaine le Murmurium Cotes du Ventoux Rose
This rose is pale peach in color with flavors of pear, peach, and apple. This is a great crisp and refreshing wine liked by all of our Saturday tasters.
