Happy Halloween!  Come by our little shop of ... wines and spirits (the good kind!) to take advantage of Bell's shockingly low sale prices and screaming deals.  And ask Destin for a hauntingly good recommendation on her favorite holiday!

The snow came early this year and melted quickly, but Bell's HOLIDAY SALE SAVINGS remain!  Remember to look for the pink price tags when you come in or browse our Holiday Sale Catalog, which will be posted on our web site (www.bellwineshop.com) in the next 48 hours and available in hardcopy shortly thereafter.  In addition, our expert staff can recommend the best wine and spirits values for your holiday enjoyment and gift-giving needs.

Given the unexpected weather locally and out West, our trucks are only now rolling in with new wines and new vintages of old favorites.  The Washington truck will arrive today and California will arrive next week -- we will be sampling these new offerings in upcoming wine tastings, so don't miss out!   Finally, please note the date of this month's Grand Tasting - Wednesday, November 16th.  We will be offering more Holiday Sale specials, with a focus on wines for your holiday table.

Saturday Tasting -

Wines On Sale

The wines below will be on sale through Saturday, November 5th.

Despite the rainy and snowy weather, we had many of our favorite regulars and new tasters, as well.

The identity of the Mystery Wine is:

Riebeek Cellars Pinotage 2010 (reg. $7.99) SALE $6.99
Surprise!  Another Pinotage!  With subtle smoke and plum on the nose, this wine has complex and rich flavors.  Ripe plum and a slight fruitcake note come through on the palate, with a soft oak finish.

Other wines included in the tasting:

Don Manuel Villafane Torrontes 2010 (reg. $11.99) SALE $8.99
This fantastic Torrontes from Argentina received 90 points from Wine Enthusiast and it’s easy to see why.  Clean and fresh with the typical tropicality and zest for which the varietal is known, the nose has white flower scents of jasmine and citrus blossom.  The palate is round, bursting with melon and papaya.

Les Pouches Saumur 2010 (reg. $11.99) $10.79/10.19
Fragrant and delicious, this Loire Valley Chenin Blanc is one of our favorites.  With apple, melon, and lemon on the nose, and a full-bodied acidic palate, it is a very interesting and tasty white.  A long finish of peach and citrus complete this tasty ride.

Cave de Lugny Macon-Villages 2009 (reg. $12.99) SALE $9.99
Macon-Village is the home of delicious Chardonnay at affordable prices.  This wine is a medium-bodied, subtle and smooth white. Clean, crisp, and packed with minerality, the wine tingles with acidity.  Without oak, the bright mineral aromas and flavors shine through resulting in a restrained and balanced wine.

Sass Pinot Noir 2009 (reg. $20.99) $18.99/17.84
This Willamette Valley Pinot has bright red cherry, strawberry and raspberry notes with great balance and a lingering finish. Some white pepper notes underlie the soft tannins and velvety mouthfeel.  It is a very smooth and drinkable red!

Foxglove Zinfandel 2009 (reg.$15.99) $14.39/13.59
This classic Zinfandel from the excellent Varner Winery has loads of berry fruit, pepper, earth, and roasted herbs.  Full-bodied and ripe, its is very smooth and drinkable.  Lighter on the black pepper notes than many Zins, it is an extremely delectable wine.

Special Addition:
A big thanks to Pam and Brian for sharing with the Saturday tasters a special bottle they acquired.  The 1986 Domaine Lequin-Roussot 1er Cru Santenay still held a fair amount of tannin, despite its vintage, and displayed a rusty brick color.  Light on the fruit, it was a pleasantly dusty and smooth Pinot.
