Our tasters were blessed by the fantastic Connie Kibler at our tasting bar again this week. We had a lot of our regulars stopping by and enjoying our new offerings and old favorites. Many tasters identified the varietal of the Mystery Wine correctly! The identity of the Mystery Wine is:
Milton Park Shiraz 2009 (reg. $9.99) SALE $7.99
With a nose of blackberry and cherry, this Australian Shiraz has hints of spicy oak. On the palate, soft tannins and rich fruit make this a very drinkable wine at an outstanding price! Other wines at the tasting included:
Bailly Lapierre Pinot Noir Brut NV (reg. $16.99) SALE $14.99
This Cremant de Bourgogne is a blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay, Chardonnay and Aligote. It displays a toasty and nutty nose, with zesty acidity and light floral hints. Light flavors of butterscotch come through on the light and bubbly finish.
Las Colinas del Ebro Garnacha Blanca 2009 (reg. $12.99) SALE $9.99
This Spanish Garnacha Blanca has aromas of melon, pear, and spice. On the palate, it is crisp and full of melon notes and acid. Reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc, its racy acidity makes it a refreshing food wine!
Le Haut Vignot Anjou 2010 (reg. $10.99) SALE $9.49
This delightful Chenin Blanc from the Loire’s Anjou has flavors of apricot, quince and citrus. It is rich with fresh fruit on the palate. A long finish follows. This is a delicious new-to-Bell wine!
Anima Negra AN/2 2009 (reg. $23.99) SALE $18.99
This stunner from Mallorca is composed of Callet (65%), Mantonegre-Fogoneu (20%), and Syrah (15%). Dark ruby-colored, it displays a bouquet of earth, tobacco, black cherry, and blueberry. The 35% French and American oak ageing shows through on the finish. This flavorful and rustic red is one of our staff favorites!
Bodegas Arrocal Tempranillo 2006 (reg. $16.99) SALE $12.99
This medium-bodied Spanish Tempranillo has an opaque, ruby color. Powerful blackberry and blackcurrant aromas, with a bit of spice, come through. Soft and silky, on the palate are dark berry flavors and fine-grained tannins. Enjoy this great wine at its great sale price!
Cline Ancient Vines Mourvedre 2009 (reg. $16.99) SALE $14.99
This fantastic Mourvedre from Contra Costa County starts with dark fruit and cocoa powder and a savory, smoky quality on the nose. More juicy dark fruit flavors (dark cherry, mainly) are found on the palate, with a latte-like creaminess and a faintly herbal note. The tannins are unobtrusive and smooth, but do not leave the wine feeling flabby. Smooth, rich and delicious, this is a wonderful expression of the Mourvedre varietal!
Francois Peyrot Chesnut Cognac (reg. $49.99) SALE $44.99
This rich and nutty cognac infused with chestnuts was a crowd favorite! Rich, warm and smooth, it is packed with flavor. This is the perfect cognac for chilly fall nights and after Thanksgiving dinner!
Special Addition!
Bob Luskin shared his 1976 Pedroncelli Pinot Noir with Saturday’s tasters! It was incredibly interesting to see how this Pinot has aged so well – just like its owner! Thanks, Bob!
