Saturday Tasting- Wines on Sale
The wines below will be ON SALE until Nov. 26th.
Our venerable and well-respected pourer Martin was back in action today, offering up wine samples for tasters even with one arm in a sling! What a trooper! Connie also lent a helping hand for Saturday regulars and folks seeking that perfect Thanksgiving bottle. Come by and get your holiday wines as well!
The identity of the Mystery Wine is:
Tommasi Poggio al Tufo Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 (reg. $18.99) SALE $16.99
This Italian Cabernet is very well-balanced with good structure, nice length and fruity flavors. An intense bouquet of dark fruit, spice, and licorice is followed by a full-bodied, rich and fruity palate. Nice work to those who correctly guessed the varietal!
Other wines in the tasting included:
Chateau Lafont Menaut Pessac-Leognan 2009 (reg. $19.99) SALE $17.99
This oak-aged Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux’s Pessac-Leognan is bright with fresh citrus and has a rich, deep finish. New to Bell, it was definitely a crowd-pleaser!
Pierre-Andre Bourgogne Chardonnay 2009 (reg. $16.99) SALE $14.99
Wow! This Chardonnay sourced from Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune, Cote de Nuits and Maconnais is golden pale with silvery tints. The wine is aged in both stainless tank and French oak barrels, giving it only a very subtle oak note. The nose has peach and vanilla aromas, and the mouth displays a nice peach and mineral note with an elegant finish.
Domaine Gerard Charvet Moulin-à-Vent 2009 (reg. $17.99) SALE $15.99
It is the time of year for Beaujolais! After offering Beajolais Nouveau during the annual release on Thursday, we offered up a Beaujolais Cru for our tasters. Light and restrained in the nose, it has a burst of black fruit, cocoa and spice on the palate. This light and juicy wine will be a perfect pairing with traditional Thanksgiving foods.
Clos de la Niverdiere Chinon 2009 (reg. $15.99) SALE $14.49
This Cabernet Franc from France’s Chinon region is sleek and refined. With black cherry and black tea notes, backed by mouthwatering acidity through the finish, it is a bright and flavorful wine. Displaying Cab Franc’s typical vegetal and earthy quality, it is great wine to pair with herbed dishes!
Higueruela Cosecha 2008 (reg. $10.99) SALE $9.49
Inky ruby in color, this Garnacha from Spain’s Almansa region has dark berry aromas and flavors. With floral and mineral characteristics, it finishes with the taste of black tea and licorice.
Domaine du Bois de Saint Jean Cotes du Rhone 2008 (reg. $12.99) SALE $10.99
We quickly sold through this fantastic Cotes du Rhone! The wine starts off slightly rubbery, but soon unfolds to show jammy fruit and chocolate balanced against olive notes. Full-bodied and solid, it has a dusting of fine tannins and cocoa on the finish. Now we have the superior 2009 vintage for sale!
