We had a nice group of tasters who enjoyed our selections and took advantage of our great January Blow-Out sale! The identity of the Mystery Wine is:
Alpamanta Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (reg. $23.99) SALE $20.99
Many of our tasters were stumped by this Chilean Cab! Intensely colored, it had rich plum aromas and spicy notes on the palate. With solid tannins, it still manages to be very smooth and silky on the finish. Other wines in the tasting included:
Conti Speroni Gavi 2010 (reg. $11.99) SALE $10.79
This Cortese from Italy’s Piedmont is fruity and aromatic, with lemon and green apple on the nose. On the palate, it is perfumed with peachy, floral flavors and a little minerality. Light and dry, it is a nice wine as an aperitif before dinner!
Chevalier Muscadet Côtes de Grand Lieu 2009 (reg. $11.99) SALE $10.79
This delicious Muscadet from the Loire’s Nantais region is floral, dry and packed with minerality. Sur lie aging gives a bit more body and a touch of yeast. This great wine pairs perfectly with oysters and other salty marine foods!
Remonte Garnacha 2007 (reg. $9.99) SALE $8.99
This Garnacha from Navarra has fresh aromas of cherry and plum with hints of black fruits and a touch of earth on the palate. Light, fruity and dry, this is a great option as an alternative to a Pinot. Drink now!
Viejo Isias Bonarda 2009 (reg. $10.99) SALE $9.49
Hailing from Argentina, this Italian varietal tends to be fruity and light. This wine boasts delicious ripe raspberry, cherry, and blackberry aromas and flavors with notes of vanilla and tobacco. Full-bodied, it has great structure and well-integrated tannins.
Showket Asante 2006 (reg. $41.99) SALE $36.99
This Sangiovese-based blend from from Napa’s Oakville has scents of plum and pine, and flavors of black cherry. Hints of vanilla come through on a smooth and lingering finish. This delicious wine was a taster favorite!
Turley Pesenti Zinfandel 2009 (reg. $44.99) SALE $29.99
As a special treat for our loyal tasters, we drastically reduced the price on this phenomenal Zin from the excellent winemakers at Turley. Inky in color, there are distinct notes of graphite and smoke, with blackberry, blueberry and mineral flavors on the palate.
